Together with Philips Personal Health

How could we become an Ecohero?

Philips, a global health tech company leading the sustainability charts, wanted to improve its product performance and develop a line of the most eco-efficient products. To help them progress faster, we envisioned their future North Star and crafted an Action Plan with new business models and solutions. Together with a diverse group of in-house specialists and designers, we implemented these strategies.

Aligning visions

How can a new range of products not just meet, but exceed, the expectations of the market as true Ecoheroes? We anticipated legislation and responded to changing consumer demands. In a company where innovation is not just a buzzword, but a way of life, and where ideas flow freely, we set our sights on an inspirational, yet not yet doable, end-state. This vision garnered broad support from all involved, sparking excitement and inspiration.

Levelling up business teams

To solve this challenge and develop a sound and shared direction for future business, we facilitated a series of workshops in which teams from different business functions, including design, R&D, product management, quality control, and sustainability, were immersed in the task of 'dreaming big'. This involved brainstorming sessions, idea generation, and scenario planning. The outcome was a bold North Star and feasible scenarios on how to get there.

Before we started envisioning the products, experts shared insights and assessments while the commercial experts looked for trends, inspiration, and threats. By bundling and sharing all starting points in a pressure cooker, we could headstart eco-efficient innovation.

Compelling and Green Claims

Finally, we build a roadmap with business models and solutions that will need to be validated on consumer attractiveness, ecological impact, and legislative robustness in follow-up sprints. This gives the team a grip to accelerate and the business a sound direction to deliver on its SDG commitments.

Inspiration for adjacent teams
Along the way, we grew some big fans for our approach and moderating skills because adjacent businesses within Philips asked us to support them in new and exciting pathways to impact. Synthesizing creativity across disciplines helps to break boundaries and becomes a crucial skill for a company to transform itself.
